Give Back to the Parks
NSTT has an active "Give
Back to the Parks" program made up of two components:
taking donations at events and a donation from the club. At each
event NSTT has a donation jar for walkers to contribute money to
that particular park. At the end of the event, NSTT matches up
to $50 of the money contributed by the walkers and writes a
check to the park or its Friends group. Since 2005, NSTT and its
walkers have contributed $17,752.17
to the parks.
So when you see that donation jar, put a buck in ... it goes to
help our parks!
NSTT Picnics at State Park events
We feed our walkers!
Every NSTT event offers an “event picnic” available to all
participants for a small donation to cover our costs. The menu
may vary, but the food is always tasty and usually cooked over
the grill!
So plan to spend some time visiting and grab a bite to eat,
while supporting NSTT events in Minnesota State Parks.
Note: Grilling will finish
approximately 1 p.m. though food will be available all day.
NSTT K9 Corps Program
Does
your
“best friend” walk with you? Then pick up a K-9 Corps
registration book and give your best friend credit for walking
too! All Folkswalks count but get rewards only from NSTT.
Receive a bag of gourmet treats at 10 events and a NSTT logo
bandana at 25 events!
Remember!
Carry
water folks!!
We’ll have a water cooler at the start/finish but you should
also carry a water bottle along with you on the trail.
Geocaching at NSTT events
Remember
to
bring your GPS along to NSTT events and check out some of the
geocaches in the parks and in the area. If you don’t have a
GPS many state parks have units that you can sign out for
free. For more information on caches in the state parks check
out www.mnstateparks.info. To find other caches in the area
visit www.geocaching.com.
Loop ‘d Loops!
That’s
right ... NSTT is “loopy over loops!” We like our walkers to be
within a safe distance for help if ever needed. Our multi-loop
trail system makes it easier for everyone to participate in our
events, whether young or old, able or not so able.
Come join us!
Don't
like to walk alone?
Just
mention at the registration desk that you’d like a walking
partner! We want you to enjoy our events ... so don’t be shy!
