The
Trail
Distance: 12km
4km or 6km options on Old Military Road, which is flat
with grass and sandy trails. This trail was once the historic
Point Douglas to Superior Military Road (Old Military Road).
Walk through a prairie, and beneath trees that border the
river. Horseback riders share this trail. This is an out and
back trail.
For more distance there will be an option to walk the Amik’s
Pond Trail before going back uphill to the Visitor Center.
This would add 2km to your distance on Old Military Road.
The Amik’s Pond Trail is a 3km loop by itself and
includes grassy trails, park road and on the paved bike trail.
All the trails above begin and end with a long hill from the
Visitor Center to the valley.
The Windfall/Mitigwaki loop is 3km that goes through
woods, with no significant hills and a short distance on the
paved bike trail.
Optional Trails: Walkers may also opt to walk the Old
Military Road/Deer Creek Loop, which is a 7km trail. Deer
Creek Loop is very soft sand with rolling hills and
grass/sandy paths. Deer Creek Loop will not have NSTT trail
markings.
