Start times:

You may start anytime between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., and finish by 4 p.m.

The Trail

Distance and trails: 

Sanctioned for 11km. The 6km trail follows the Hiking Club trail down steps and by
an old sandstone quarry. It goes to the bottom of the valley and back up to the
Eagle Point Lookout, overlooking the Lake Pepin Gorge. This trail is mostly crushed rock
with some mowed grass areas. Rate 3C.
The 5km trail is through prairie and along the shore of Pleasant Valley Lakelet
with some rolling hills on a mowed grass path.
The 5km challenge trail starts at the Picnic Shelter and goes to the Lower Bluffside Trail
following a dirt, rock and root path with some boardwalks and lots of steps, back to the
Upper Bluffside Trail. Rate 4E.

State Park Vehicle Permit

A state park vehicle permit is required when you enter any state park. Daily permits cost $7. An annual permit can be purchased for $35 and entitles you to an unlimited number of visits to any and all Minnesota State Parks for 12 months after date of purchase.


Water and restrooms are available at the center. NSTT will offer a participant picnic throughout the day for a donation to cover costs.

Getting There

29223 Co 28 Blvd, Frontenac, MN 55026. About 55 miles south of St. Paul.Frontenac State Park is located approximately 10 miles southeast of Red Wing on Highway 61 or five miles northwest of Lake City, then one mile north on County Road 2.
